Your First Horse Show
The things nobody remembers until 5:30 a.m.
Your first show is rarely about anything you forgot to buy — it's the small logistics nobody mentions ahead of time. This is the practical version of what we wish someone had told us before our first one.
Pack the night before
- Coggins, health papers and membership cards, in one folder
- Number holder, whip, gloves — the small things that vanish first
- A full outfit change, in case the first one gets muddy
Morning of
- Braiding kit, packed and ready the night before, never the morning of
- A cooler for after the last class, not just the first
- Snacks and water for humans — an underrated show-day essential
Good to have, easy to forget
- A boot dryer or towel for wet boots between classes
- A small first-aid kit for horse and rider
